LTE의 원래 이름은 무엇일까? #LTE

보통 언론에서 LTE를 Long Term Evolution 이라고 해서 그렇구나 생각했습니다. 그렇지만 Long Term Evolution이라는 단어에서 뭔가 통신의 냄새가 나지 않아서 LTE의 어원을 찾게 되었습니다

LTE의 실제 이름은 아래와 같습니다.

3GPP Long Term Evolution for the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System

3GPP에 대한 용어가 뭔지 궁금해서 3GPP의 어원를 찾아보았습니다. 

3rd Generation Partnership Project (the group responsible for standardizing and improving the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System, or UMTS)

위의 용어 설명대로 LTE의 실제 이름은 아래와 같습니다. 

3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution for the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System

이전의 통신 서비스 방식이였던 CDMA와 GSM의 실제 이름을 보다 LTE의 이름 길이를 보면, 정말 이름이 길어요-_-;;

GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications, originally Groupe Spécial Mobile) 

CDMA (Code division multiple access)

UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)

W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) 

HSPA (High Speed Packet Access)
